Chianti Classico Gran Selezione

Brancaia Chianti Classico Gran Selezione – a remarkable single-vineyard wine that epitomizes the excellence of our Sangiovese grapes and complements our range of Chianti Classico DOCG wines.

Our 100% Sangiovese grapes develop a truly unique authenticity and character through old vines, careful clone selection and organic farming methods. After maturing for 18 months in French oak tonneaux and an additional 3 months in concrete tanks, the wine matures for at least 12 months in the bottle.

The grapes for our Gran Selezione come exclusively from a vineyard (we call it “VIGNA 10” or “Block 10”) in the municipality of Castellina in Chianti, which was already recognized for its exceptional quality when we acquired our estate in 1981. In 1999, the vineyard was replanted using five of the best Sangiovese clones selected as part of the ambitious “Chianti Classico 2000” project – an ongoing research and experimentation initiative that began in the 1980s. Today, after two decades, we are proud to confirm the achievement of this exceptional quality.

With a southeast exposure and an altitude of 240 to 265 meters above sea level, the vineyard enjoys a loamy soil rich in Galestro – a local clayey rock that lends a nice balance between intensity and the characteristic acidity of world-class Sangiovese grapes.

The Brancaia Chianti Classico Gran Selezione shows a great structure and refined elegance.
