The winter of 2023 was mild and rainy. While this helped accumulate water reserves in the soil, the above-average temperatures led to an early budding of the vines, exposing the young shoots to frost. To prevent damage, we once again lit fires in the vineyards this year. Spring was exceptionally rainy in the Chianti Classico region, with rains that led to the proliferation of downy mildew, a fungus that affects all parts of the plant. As a result, we experienced a drop in yield. On the coast, however, the rains were much more limited, and there was no damage caused by the fungus. From the end of June, the climate stabilized. July and August were characterized by high temperatures and a lack of rain, which halted all fungal infections and promoted regular grape development. Starting in September, we had a period with strong daily temperature fluctuations, ideal for phenolic ripening and aroma synthesis in the berries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

On August 22, we started harvesting Sauvignon Blanc, and on August 24, we began harvesting Merlot in Maremma, intended for the production of our Ros\u00e9. On September 8, we started harvesting another part of the Merlot in Maremma, intended for our TRE.
Starting from September 18, we harvested Sangiovese in Chianti and on September 25, the Merlot. The harvest in Chianti concluded with the collection of the Sangiovese from Radda in Chianti.<\/p>\n
